Ante-post prices are offered on most major horse racing events up to 3 days prior to the scheduled day of the race. Ante-post bets are accepted on the basis of all in run, unless a "with a run" price is offered. Stakes are lost if an ante-post selection does not take part. No deductions are made to winning ante-post bets. The horseracing year provides occasions when the same selection can be backed to win two different events.
